Jingming (BL 1)

Location

In the depression slightly above (about 0.1 cun medial and superior to) the inner canthus.

Indications
  • Redness, swelling, pain of the eye, itching of the canthus, lacrimation
  • Night blindness, color blindness, blurring of vision, myopia
Contraindications: 
Contraindicated for moxa
Applications
  • Benefits the eyes
  • Expels wind and clears heat
Balance Method: 
Techniques

With the patient's eyes closed, gently push the eyeball towards the lateral side. Slowly needle perpendicularly 0.3-0.7 cun along the orbital wall to avoid the eyeball. It is not advisable to twist or lift and thrust the needle vigorously. To avoid bleeding, press the puncturing site for a few seconds after withdrawing of the needle.
