Xinchang (T 11.19)

Location

The Master Tung Acupuncture point, T 11.19 Xinchang, is a two-point set on the palmar aspect of the middle finger, evenly distributed along the ulnar margin of the proximal phalangeal bone (line D). Divide the proximal phalanx into thirds, and locate these two points at 1/3 and 2/3 of the distance between the MCP and PIP joints.

Notes:

For palmar finger points, measure from the palmar digital crease to the proximal interphalangeal crease rather than from MCP to PIP joints.
This finger line system for locating Zone 11 points is adopted from "Advanced Tung Style Acupuncture: Dao Ma" by James Maher.

Indications

Primary:

Heart disease: palpitations, tachycardia, cardiomegaly, rheumatic heart disease, coronary artery disease, arrhythmia, bradycardia, angina pectoris

Secondary:

Lung cancer, tuberculosis

Techniques

Needle 0.1 - 0.2 cun along the edge of the bone towards the dorsal aspect of the hand.
Needle bilaterally.
This point can also be bled.
