Shimen (CV 5)

Location

On the anterior midline, 2 cun below the umbilicus.

Indications
  • Abdominal pain, hernia, diarrhea, edema
  • Enuresis, anuria
  • Amenorrhea, uterine bleeding, postpartum hemorrhage, morbid leukorrhea
Contraindications: 
Contraindicated during pregnancy
Applications
  • Moves and benefits the water passages
  • Regulates qi, alleviates pain
  • Regulates the uterus
Techniques

Needle perpendicularly 0.5-1.0 cun.
