Tongtian (T 88.03)

Location

This point is on the anterior midline of the thigh, 9 cun above the upper margin of the patella, 4 cun proximal to Tongguan (T 88.01).

Indications
Primary: 
  • All heart diseases:
    • Coronary heart disorder, congestive heart failure, arrhythmia, rheumatic heart disease, palpitations, fainting sensation and lightheadedness, vertigo, acute pericarditis, pericardium disorders, cerebral ischemia, poor blood circulation, chest pain, limb pain
  • Nausea and vomiting
Secondary: 
  • Knee pain, back pain, finger pain
  • Leg weakness, lower body wei zheng (atrophy syndrome) or paralysis, leg qi
  • Lower body eczema
Contraindications: 
Bilateral needling is contraindicated
