Yamen (GV 15)

Location

On the posterior midline, 0.5 cun within the posterior hairline, in the depression below the spinous process of the 1st cervical vertebra.

Indications
  • Mental disorders, epilepsy, apoplexy
  • Stiffness of the tongue, aphasia, sudden hoarseness of voice
  • Deafness and mute
  • Occipital headache, neck rigidity
Applications
  • Benefits the tongue, neck, and spine
  • Eliminates wind
Techniques

Needle perpendicularly 0.5-0.8 cun. Deep insertion or needling obliquely upward is not advisable as it is near the medullary bulb in the deep layer, and the depth and angle of the puncture should be strictly observed.
