Waijian (T 11.04)

Location

The Master Tung Acupuncture point, T 11.04 Waijian, is located on the palmar aspect of the index finger, along the radial margin of the middle phalangeal bone (line B). Divide the middle phalanx into thirds, and locate this point at the junction of the proximal 1/3 and middle 1/3 of this distance.

Techniques

Needle perpendicularly, adjacent to the edge of the bone, 0.1 - 0.2 cun towards the dorsal aspect of the hand.

  • Needle contralateral to the affected side.

Bleeding is also effective for hernia if there are nearby veins or dark spots. The therapeutic effect is most apparent when yellow fluids can be squeezed out when bleeding this point.
