Chongzi (T 22.01)

Location

The Master Tung Acupuncture point, T 22.01 Chongzi, is on the thenar eminence, about 1 cun below the first and second metacarpal skin fold.

Indications
Primary: 
  • Upper back pain (especially between scapula and neck), neck pain
  • Respiratory disorders: asthma (especially in children), pneumonia, common cold, cough, fever, sore throat, emphysema, lung cancer, laryngitis, pharyngitis, lung cancer
Secondary: 
  • Tachycardia, hypertension, chest pain
  • Finger stiffness

Techniques

Needle perpendicularly 0.3 - 1 cun.

  • Needle contralateral to the affected side when treating pain. When treating everything else, needle the side of Chongzi (T 22.01) where there is more pain upon palpation.

This point can also be bled, especially in pediatric cases.
