40 points total

  • The first 10 points are on the spine, below the spinous process of T2 to T11. 7 of the 10 points overlap with Shenzhu (GV 12), Shendao (GV 11), Lingtai (GV 10), Zhiyang (GV 9), Jinsuo (GV 8), Zhongshu (GV 7), Jizhong (GV 6).
  • The second set of 16 points is 3 cun lateral to the spinous process of T2 to T9 (8 points on each side). 14 of the 16 points overlap with Fufen (BL 41), Pohu (BL 42), Gaohuangshu (BL 43), Shentang (BL 44), Yixi (BL 45), Geguan (BL 46), Hunmen (BL 47).
  • The third set of 14 points is 6 cun lateral to the spinous process of T2 to T8 (7 points on each side). 4 of the 14 points overlap with Tianzong (SI 11) and Bingfeng (SI 12).
Indications
Primary: 
  • Hypertension, headache, numbness of the arms, hands, fingers and feet, chest pain, chest stuffiness, cardiomegaly
  • Any chronic disorder with blood stagnation
Secondary: 
  • Severe common cold, flu, high fever, chills, headache, vomiting
  • Hemiplegia
  • Cholera (yin or yang type), acute stomach pain
  • Back pain from atherosclerosis

Techniques

This point can be bled. Pinch the skin first prior to pricking for blood. It is unnecessary to bleed all 40 points. Choose the points that relate to the correct innervations and bleed accordingly.
