Xiaojian (T 11.02)

Location

The Master Tung Acupuncture point, T 11.02 Xiaojian, is located on the palmar aspect of the index finger, along the radial margin of the proximal phalangeal bone, ¾ distal from the MCP joint (line B).

Indications
Primary: 
  • Hernia
  • Acute and chronic enteritis
  • Dyspnea, chronic bronchitis
Secondary: 
  • Yellow phlegm, chest congestion, asthma
  • Heart disease, palpitations, shortness of breath, finger numbness
  • Inguinal hernia, femoral hernia, abdominal distension
  • Conjunctivitis, canthus pain
  • Pediatric asthma, gan ji (infantile malnutrition)
  • TMJ pain
  • Tonsillitis
Contraindications: 
Bilateral needling is contraindicated

Techniques

Needle perpendicularly, adjacent to the edge of the bone, towards the dorsal aspect of the hand.

  • For HT and LU conditions, needle 0.1 - 0.2 cun.
  • For hernia, SI conditions, and knee pain and all other conditions, needle 0.2 - 0.3 cun.

Bleeding is also effective for hernia if there are nearby veins or dark spots.
Needle contralateral to the affected side.
