Jimai (LR 12)

Location

Lateral to the pubic tubercle, lateral and inferior to Qichong (ST 30), in the inguinal groove medial to the femoral artery, 2.5 cun lateral to the anterior midline.

Indications
  • Lower abdominal pain
  • Pain in the external genitalia, hernia
Contraindications: 
Contraindicated for needling
Applications
  • Eliminates cold from the Liver channel
  • Benefits the lower jiao
Balance Method: 
Techniques

Moxibustion is applicable.

Remarks

Modern texts, however, state that this point should be needled obliquely 0.5-0.8 cun and that moxibustion is contraindicated. When needling, avoid the femoral vein.
