Linggu (T 22.05)

Location

The Master Tung Acupuncture point, T 22.05 Linggu, is located on the LI channel, on the dorsal aspect of the hand, at the junction between the 1st and 2nd metacarpal bones, proximal to Hegu (LI 4). This point is directly opposite to Chongxian (T 22.02).

Indications
Primary: 

Pain and paresthesia

  • Back pain, low back pain, sciatica, acute back sprain, sciatica, frozen shoulder, neck pain, knee pain, hemiplegia, numbness of limbs, weakness of the lower legs, bone swelling, heel pain, bone pain, facial paralysis, migraine, groin pain, headache, arm pain, elbow pain

Any gynecological and menstrual disorder

  • Amenorrhea, irregular menstruation, dysmenorrhea, difficult labor, insufficient lactation

Any digestive disorder

  • Poor appetite, indigestion, abdominal distension, enteritis, vomiting, diarrhea, duodenal ulcer, stomach ulcer, intestinal pain, rectal prolapse, thirst, diabetes, xiao ke (wasting and thirsting) syndrome

Any disorder of the face and head

  • Eyes, ears, nose, and throat disorders: tinnitus, hearing difficulties, dizziness, any eye disorder

Any strange or chronic disorder that is unresponsive to regular treatments

Secondary: 
  • Urinary disorders: enuresis, polyuria, dysuria, incontinence, urinary tract infection, nephritis, frequent urination
  • Respiratory disorders: cough, common cold, sore throat, fever, headache with aversion to wind, pneumonia, emphysema, lung cancer, fluid in the lungs, difficult respiration, difficult exhalation, chronic laryngitis with tickling and urge to cough, post-meningitis symptoms
  • Various types of sweating, including night sweating, profuse sweating, sweaty hands
  • Arrhythmia

Techniques

Needle perpendicularly 1 - 1.5 cun. Patient should move his/her back while needles are being manipulated.

  • Needle contralateral to the affected area.
  • Avoid the radial artery when needling.

When treating problems involving the bone, needles should be inserted along the edge of the bone or touching the bone for optimal effectiveness.
